Freedom is time, with Ross Stryker

Money can’t buy everything. We’ve all heard that, over and over. It’s mostly uttered by people who were also told the same thing as they were growing up. It’s also mostly uttered by people who would do so much more with their own lives, if they only had the financial freedom to do so.
Ross Stryker has plenty of money.
He can pretty much do whatever he wants right now, but the thought of spending every day at the beach, focused inward only, and not living a purpose driven life makes him cringe.
He didn’t serve in the military only to abandon his values of living to his potential and helping others do the same. He didn’t build and run his own successful business just so he could buy a nice car, and neither he nor his wife felt as if sitting back to live comfortably but carefully off their savings equates to living to their own potential.
So, at 58 years old, and with his wife’s full support, Ross Stryker turned away from retirement and stepped into a new path.
Within five years he grew their lifetime savings into true wealth. He’s an investor in businesses in Panama and Belize as well as right here in the United States, with real estate being his primary focus. He did so well as an investor he could have sat back and relaxed for real – but that’s not his nature. “I really believe in getting people educated so they don’t get taken advantage of by others,” he says.S o now he’s helping other people just like him, who want something bigger from their own lives, who want to be able to break out of the confines of their current budgets to expand their own impact.
“This is still the land of opportunity,” says Ross.
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it but the reality is, anyone can build their own success in this country, he believes.
While Ross acknowledges he started off in life with more advantages than many people, he stands by his own effort as being integral to his current success. He also served his country in the military, and saw the professional struggles his wife went through as a result.
Ross was plugged in to his job no matter where they moved, but his wife struggled as many military spouses do, to carry a career through one move after another. Today, his wife is an important member of the team behind Smart Assets, Ross’ new company. He laughs as he explains that one of the biggest things he can do to help that team is just stay out of their way.
Relationships like the ones he has with his team are integral to the success of his company. So, too, are the relationships he’s built over decades.
Surrounding yourself with people to push you, support you, and inspire you is a key to any level of success in life. Ross does this not just through his own team but by several masterminds he’s been part of over the years. It’s these extensive networks that allowed him to develop roots in the entrepreneurial space, and widened his reach.
Masterminds are invaluable to anyone seeking to grow to and even beyond their potential. There are masterminds for just about any area of professional and personal development, with most masterminds covering both of those. There are even masterminds for niches like storage space industry, which is another branch of investing Ross is climbing.
Masterminds are not free. Many are downright expensive. And yet, in terms of a Return on Investment, they are no-brainers for people like Ross, and he highly recommends them.
“We learn from mistakes,” says Ross, but by being in a Mastermind, you can learn from other people’s mistakes before you make those same ones. You also learn secrets to the success others have had, allowing you to avoid costly mistakes and implement effective strategies all while building relationships with like-minded peers.
“Freedom is about time, not money,” says Ross.
He made good money in his years as a dentist and orthodontist. But it wasn’t until he retired from that profession that he found his path to the true freedom to live and enjoy his life.
He was given a gift, he says, of waking up and realizing he doesn’t have to trade in his financial growth at retirement, and his goal now is to educate as many people as he can about that.
The financial security he has now is something Ross wants to see more people have. He wants to dispel the belief that you will have to live on less, and decrease your ability to give back, after retirement. Instead, he wants retirement to serve as a new launching point for the rest of your life. The earlier you implement the techniques he teaches, the sooner that retirement day can arrive.
Ross has traveled to different parts of the world and seen the disparity between opportunities here and elsewhere. He has a message for those intent on bashing this country; Witness the immigrants who come here and become millionaires once or several times over. Learn from them and the example they set. They came to this country for the exact opportunities we have here, and so many of us overlook or take for granted.
The American Dream, to Ross Stryker , is freedom.
Including financial freedom. There is no cookie-cutter mold to achieve that freedom, but the recipe is one anyone can concoct, at virtually any age. Ross achieved that freedom. Now he’s enjoying “the icing on the cake,” he says, by helping others do the same.
