Comedy exists to push boundaries. If we are to judge comedians by their ability to do so, Dave Chappelle should be considered a master of the craft.

Dave Chappelle’s new special “The Closer” has sparked rampant outrage among progressive leftists. During his performance, he made a series of jokes on topics radical leftists view as sacred: trangenderism and homosexuality.

What bothers these radicals most is Chappelle’s refusal to adopt their subjective worldview around areas like gender. When an individual refuses to believe that gender is a fluid social construct, they are deemed dogmatic homophobes and transphobes by radical leftists.

Chappelle pointedly rejects this view, which can be seen in the following quote from “The Closer”:

“Gender is a fact…Every human being in this room, every human being on Earth, had to pass through the legs of a woman to be on Earth. That is a fact. Now, I am not saying that to say trans women aren’t women, I am just saying that those p*****s that they got … you know what I mean? I’m not saying it’s not p***y, but it’s Beyond P***y or Impossible P***y.”

Having made a joke about the left’s sacred cow, the transgender community, Chappelle is facing the threat of cancelation, namely from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). GLAAD is currently pressuring Netflix to remove the special from their platform, accusing the streaming service of “platforming anti-LGBTQ diatribes”. They further claim that Netflix is supporting hateful content and violating their own standards.

Despite Netflix being pressured by organizations like GLAAD and their own employees, the platform has refused to remove Chappelle’s special. In an email to employees by co-CEO Ted Sarandos, obtained by The Verge, he stated:

“Several of you have also asked where we draw the line on hate. We don’t allow titles on Netflix that are designed to incite hate or violence, and we don’t believe The Closer crosses that line. I recognize, however, that distinguishing between commentary and harm is hard, especially with stand-up comedy which exists to push boundaries”

It is rather fascinating that Netflix has stood firmly against Chappelle’s cancelation. Many corporations today fold quickly once they hear even a whisper from the far left. It could be a sign that major platforms are learning that boycotts from the left aren’t something that can actually impact their bottom line. While there are plenty of people enraged with Chappelle’s special, they are the vocal minority.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, a review-aggregator, audiences generally loved Chappelle’s performance. With 2,500+ ratings, it received a 4.8/5 star rating. While leftists critics demean comedy special as transphobic trash, the public has largely appreciated Chappelle’s comedic genius.
