Don't Just Be Inspired. Be Exceptional.
by Dave Brown
Daniel Gomez worked hard to get where he was. He was managing multi million dollar organizations in the auto industry. Success was his. Life was good. He’d pushed through the grief of losing his parents to cancer, and he wrapped his love around his own family.
But success came at a cost, and his happy life changed overnight.
First to fall was Daniel’s grace. He talks openly about the time he fell away from God, and allowed his ego to dominate his actions. Success came swiftly. Accolades poured in, and Daniel was seduced by it all. His arrogance swelled to the point that his boss had enough, and decided no amount of money Daniel brought in was worth the disrespect that came with it.
He turned it into an opportunity to do some serious self-reflection. He turned back to his faith, and rebuilt his career. This time, though, he gave all credit to his new CEO – God.
Daniel could not care any less than he does, about the comments or chuckles he may get from people when he talks about conversations he has with God just like he may talk about a conversation he has with anyone. I don’t give a shit what anyone says, he laughs. “We all have different beliefs.” He’s learned to let the comments go and even pray for the people who utter them. “Hurt people hurt people,” he says, and odds are, the people hurling snide comments at him about his faith are hurting, and need those prayers.
Daniel’s faith is what he fell back on when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Seeing her suffer emotionally with her diagnosis, Daniel took another leap and walked away from his lucrative career to support the woman he loves.
Together, they faced down the disease that stole both of Daniel’s parents from him, and won. Daniel turned his experience into an opportunity to pursue another calling. Today he is inspiring people as well as guiding them to achieve their own success.
“We all have a God-given gift,” says Daniel, but most people don’t walk in that gift.”
He and his wife have a non profit that offers financial support to others battling cancer, and Daniel’s smile is never far from his face, regardless of the obstacles he faces.
In this episode, Daniel shares his personal and professional story of failure and success. He offers actionable steps to reverse negative momentum, building a business, and how to maintain integrity.
Daniel turned into this past year of adversity and doubled down on his own vision. His story and insight prove that it is possible to build success if excuses are turned into opportunities. Here are some of the topics discussed in this power-packed episode:
